Perfect Peacock - In Purple

The colours don't seem to look right in the photos, but turned out really nice in real life.
The Peacock is embossed in gold onto vellum, then coloured with Stampin' Write Markers.
The Stampin' Write Markers are not quite the same as the Blendabilities (because they are a water based ink, they don't behave the same as an achohol based ink), but using them on the vellum is great, because you can blend  and lighten the colours using the Blender Pen. You can also colour on the front or the back of the vellum depending on the look you want to achieve.
Stamps: Perfect Peacock & Flowering Flourishes
Cardstock: Blackberry Bliss, Daffodil Delight, Crumb Cake & Vellum
Ink: Versa Mark, Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie, Old Olive, Always Artichoke, Wisteria Wonder, Perfect Plum, Elegant Eggplant, Rich Razzleberry & Calypso Coral
Framelits: Apothecary Accents
Extras: Gold Embossing Powder, Blender Pen & Blackberry Ribbon

I'm just trying to show how nice the gold embossing powder looks with these colours on the vellum.
(It's always tricky to get a good photo of gold on cards while capturing the other features too)

I layered the vellum onto Daffodil Delight card stock because it went with the colours in the card and gave it a warmer - softer finish.

This card didn't out as good as the other one, but I've used the same basic colours to colour in, except I've embossed with silver onto Whisper White card stock and used the inks to watercolour the image.

Shaker card with gift card pocket inside

 Stamp set: Adventure Awaits
Card stock: Basic Black, Whisper White, Irresistibly Yours dsp & Vellum.
Ink: Pool Party, Coastal Cabana, Bermuda Bay & Memento Black.
Tools: Apothecary Accents Framelits & Stars Decorative Mask.
Extras: Sequins & Washi Tape

I used the piece that was cut out from the front (Apothecary Framelit) to make the pocket.
I just traced the gift card onto the inside of the pocket so I would know where to put adhesive, ( & so the gift card wouldn't get stuck to it).

I also added some Pool Party twine to the gift card, just for something extra to grab hold of to make it easier to take the gift card out ( I think I had stuck the pocket down just a little bit too tight).

Techniques & Sweet Stuff

Here some cards focusing on techniques such as Stencil spraying, Sponging ,folder printing & Blendabilities (Alcohol Markers). Products used in these projects include, Stamps; Papillon Potpourri, Hello There, Kinda Eclectic, Everything Eleanor & Petite Petals. Punches: Elegant Butterfly, Bitty Butterfly, Label Bracket  & Petite Petals. Framelits: Hexagon Hive, Chalk Talk and Apothecary Accents.

Colours: Calypso Coral, Hello Honey, Daffodil Delight, Mossy Meadow Tuxedo Black & Whisper White.

Colours:  Hello Honey, Daffodil Delight, Mossy Meadow Tuxedo Black & Very Vanilla.

Vanilla Seam binding ribbon & pearls go really nicely with Very Vanilla card stock.

Colours: Hello Honey, Daffodil Delight, Coastal Cabana, Soft Sky, Pistachio Pudding, Wild Wasabi, Tuxedo Black & Whisper White.

I cut a stencil out of card stock using the Hexagon Hive Framelit. Adding a little bit of snail adhesive  then tapping off the excess stickiness with your finger tip helps to hold the stencil in place, without sticking to your work too much.

I spayed with a few of squirts of Daffodil Delight & few of Pool Party.
(In this particular photo the stencil has all the colour -as I had used it several times before - and my card stock is Whisper White). I just used alcohol (Isocol - rubbing alcohol) several drops of ink refill until I was happy with the colour.

I used the swirl from Everything Eleanor & stamped it in Soft Sky ink.

Sponged the edges with Hello Honey ink.

Cut out a tag from Chalk Talk framelits in Daffodill Delight card stock. Add a ;layer of Hello Honey  ink to the Honeycomb embossing folder, close the folder with the tag inside & press down firmly to transfer the ink. (It's like stamping with an embossing folder). Then sponge the edges with more Hello Honey ink.

Stamp the words ( So Sweet of you ) from Hello There, in Hello Honey ink on Hello Honey card stock.Punch out with Label Bracket Punch, sponge the edges with more Hello Honey ink.

Stamp the flower from Petite Petals in Hello Honey ink on Whisper White card stock.Add some daffodil Delight ink to the center of the flower using a sponge dauber. Punch out with Petite Petals Punch.

Stamp the fuller flower from Petite Petals in Wild  Wasabi ink on Pistachio Pudding card stock.. Punch out with Petite Petals Punch, then cut with scissor to create leaves.

To make the butterfly (from Papillon Potpourri)  stamp in Memento  Tuxedo Black ink onto Whisper White card stock.

Allow black ink 20-30 seconds drying time, colour once over with the brush tip in the lightest shade of Coastal Cabana Blendabilities Markers.

Next I used the bullet end of the dark Coastal Cabana to trace along the top edge of the butterfly wings.

Again with the darkest shade using little stokes, I went over the first dark line and extended it

Next with the medium shade of Coastal Cabana, go over  all the dark areas and continue to extend it further,  and keep using the same stoke style.

One more time go over and extend the dark area, this time using the Lightest shade. (This step may not be necessary with the other coloured Blendabilities, but for some reason the Coastal Cabana needs more work to blend).

Finally give a last coat of the light shade all over using the brush tip. This step makes all the difference when blending, as you can tell in this picture I have only coloured in the left wing.

Punch  out using the Elegant Butterfly punch.
All the pieces to make the tag  + adhesives & dimensionals.

All pieces put together creating a card full of techniques and sweet stuff.

Gift Card Holder

This is a great gift card holder that slides the gift card up as you open it.
Using the Envelope Punch Board you can create open/close mechanism.
All project using products from SALE-A-BRATION 2014
All the basic elements: Open, Closed & embellishment's.

Stamps: See Ya Later. DSP: Sweet Sorbet  (Sale-a-Bration 2014.)

Stamps: See Ya Later. DSP: Sweet Sorbet  (Sale-a-Bration 2014.)

These were the make project for a workshop, one I had ready made (which was also my practice) and the other was the one I demonstrated on the day.

As you open the front flap up, the insert holding the gift card slides up.
the Pool Party string is from the Sweet Sorbet pack (Sale-a-bration) holds the the bottom end closed.

I used Stampin' write Markers to colour the stamp: Certainly Celery,
Crumb Cake, Pool Party & Soft Slate. Cut with Apothecary Accents Framelits.
Stamps: Banner Blast, with Pool Party ink & punched with the Banner Punch.

Stampin' Write Markers: Soft Slate, So Saffron & Crumb Cake.
HAPPY is stamped in Pool Party & cut with the Bitty Banner Framelits.
Stamps: Your Lovely. DSP: Sweet Sorbet. (Sale-A-Bration)
Colours: Crisp Cantaoupe, Sahara Sand & Whisper White.

Open with live Happy stamped inside. (You can tell I've been a little bit rough  with this one, it was the first one I made).

I haven't had a chance to adjust my instruction page yet, so I'll add a link to Dawn's Stamping Thoughts, which is where I got the instruction in the first place. Dawn has a fabulous video which is easy to follow.
