Sliding Easel Cards

Stamp Set: One Wild Ride
Cardstock: Dapper Denim, Crumb Cake, Basic Black & Very Vanilla
Ink: Black, Crumb Cake
Punches: Best Badge & Circle Punch

Stamp Set: Birthday Blooms
Cardstock: Watermelon Wonder, Smoky Slate & Whisper White
Ink: Versa Mark, Smoky Slate, Watermelon Wonder, Crushed
curry & mint Macaron
Tools: Decorative Label Punch & Circle Punch
Extras: Silver Embossing Powder & Silver Metallic Thread

I just wanted to show off the effect of the silver embossing. It can be tricky to get a good photo of the whole project and see how nice the sliver embossing can be.
For more on the watercolouring of this card click here.

The flower on the inside is stamped in Smoky Slate and water coloured.

This next card in particular is where my inspiration came from to make these sliding easel cards in the first place. I hardly ever copy exactly from another project, but I just loved this card made by Sharon Burkuert, when I seen it on Pinterest, and had to do it the same. It's also the design I used for my stamp class... and everyone else loved it too.
But you wouldn't believe my luck... I lost the little sail stamp in between the day class and the night class, and to this day I still haven't found it : (

Double layering with Everything Eleanor & No Black Outline Technique

Just Playing around with a card after being inspired by a catalogue. (Yes it was a mothers day catalogue from the chemist, it just takes me a while to post things.)

Stamps sets: Everything Eleanor & Endless Birthday Wishes
Card stock: Thick White & Brushed Silver
Ink: Versa Mark, Sahara Sand, Daffodil Delight, Wisteria Wonder, Elegant Eggplant, Perfect Plum, Garden Green & Old Olive
Extras: Silver Embossing Powder & Gold Wink of Stella

I used temporary adhesive to hold the smaller piece of white card stock in place, then stamped and embossed the words - somewhere in the middle. Next I stamped the flowers in Sahara Sand and masked some to stamp more over lapping flowers and added stems.

Using an Aqua Painter I water coloured the flowers with the ink colours in the picture.

This is how it look after just watercolouring, which I didn't mind... but I always get carried away and add more.

I used the fine tip end of the markers to outline the flowers.

...added a bit of Perfect Plum.

Gold Wink of Stella to deepen the stamens.

Take it apart and add some real adhesive.

So there's the card next to the inspiration.

See... "Mothers Day Special" in a chemist catalogue.
Well, inspiration comes from everywhere.

Sale-A-Bration & Occasions 2016

Too bad I don't post projects more often, I'm getting a little behind.
These were made earlier this year with new occasions stamp sets and Sale-A-Bration stamp sets too, plus a little wink of Stella.

Stamps: Picture Perfect, Everything Eleanor, Kinda Eclectic & Perfect Pairings
Cardstock: Crumb Cake, Blushing Bride & Very Vanilla
Ink: Versa Mark, Pear Pizzazz, Old Olive, Always Artichoke, Blushing Bride, Calypso Coral & Watermelon Wonder
Extras: Gold Embossing Powder, Gold Marker, Gold Wink of Stella & Gold Metallic Baker's Twine

Gold is always hard to photograph...you got to try all angles. : /

First I stamped the swirl from Everything Eleanor & the leaf from Kinda Eclectic in Versa Mark, but then decided it didn't show up enough (even for background).

...so I went over the swirls with the Gold Wink of Stella.
It doesn't look that great here, but it made the finished card look better.

Stamps: What I Love
Cardstock: Soft Sky, Brushed Silver & Very Vanilla
Ink: Blushing Bride, Soft Sky, Perfect Plum & Wild Wasabi
Extras:  Chevron Embossing Folder, Silver Embossing Powder & Silver Metallic Thread

You may be able to see if you look really closely, that the Chevron embossing folder has been pressed onto the Vanilla card stock with Soft Sky ink.
The Coloured spots you can see in the top corner were just added with an Aqua painter & watered down ink ( it helps if the card stock is slightly damp first).

Stamps: Perfect Pairings & What I Love
Cardstock: Soft Sky, Brushed Silver & Whisper White
Ink: Blushing Bride, Soft Sky, Calypso Coral, Tangerine Tango & Wild Wasabi
Extras:  Modern Masaic Embossing Folder, Silver Embossing Powder, Silver Metallic Thread & Rhinestone Jewels

It's hard to tell from the picture, but the Mosaic folder has been pressed onto the white card stock with a little soft sky ink.
Stamps: Enjoy the Little Things
Cardstock: Timeless Elegance dsp, Sahara Sand, Basic Black & Very Vanilla
Ink: Pear Pizzazz, Cherry Cobbler, Sahara Sand & Memento Black
Extras: Pearl Jewels, Labels Collection Framelits

I used the markers to colour the rose on the dsp (designer series paper) and the fine tip of the Sahara Sand marker to add the line & dotted detail on the label.

70th Birthday card - Fish in the water

I was asked to do a 70th birthday card for a man who liked fishing... so after thinking about it for a little while I remembered seeing a card my friend Katrina had done several years ago using gel and glitter.
Here is my version of the gel & glitter underwater theme card.
I didn't have any hair gel in reach, but I did have hand sanitizer, so that's what I used instead. (Although I think that hair gel might have been better because it's thicker than hand sanitizer).
Note: The stamped, embossed fish are behind the plastic bag of glitter & gel, not in.

Stamps: Back to Basics Alphabet, By the Tide & Hardwood
Cardstock: Baked Brown Sugar & Whisper White
Ink: Memento Black, Baked Brown Sugar, Soft Suede, Pacific Point Tempting Turquoise, Wild Wasabi, Smoky Slate, Blushing Bride & Versa Mark
Framelits: Circles
Embossing Powder: Silver & Clear
Extras: Linen Thread, mini Brads, Dazzling Diamonds Glitter, snap lock bag & gel

The glitter seems to settle to the bottom after a while, but when you squish a little it stirs back up into the scene. Keep in mind when adding the glitter it's best to start with just a little bit...you can always add more, but it's not so easy to take it out!
These pictures were taken in the sun light. Here you can see that I've cut the middle fish out & stuck over the other two, this give more of a 3D effect.

This card is fun! You just can't help playing with it, because the bubbles & glitter move around when you squish it... you just want to squish it more.

A Peek-a-Boo Card of a different sort

I seen a gorgeous "peek-a-boo" card on Pinterest that caught my attention. Curious... I clicked on it and ended up on Norma's blog. The card Norma had made was gorgeous, but it was big (6" x 6") and uses a lot of card stock It was different to other peek a boo style cards I have done before, a second picture slips into place when the card is opened. So here I reduced the card down to 4" x 6".
Stamp set: Partridge & Pears
Card stock: Pear Pizzazz, Whisper White & All is Calm dsp.
Ink: Versa Mark, Crumb Cake, Pear Pizzazz, So Saffron, Pool Party & Lost Lagoon.
Framelits: Circles
Extras: All is Calm Washi Tape, Pear Pizzazz Taffeta Ribbon, Frosted Sequins & Silver Embossing Powder.
Tools: Trimmer-Scorer, Heat tool, Big shot & Aqua Painter.

The card below was the first one I made, 6" x 6", I think the first card of any style is always a learning curve.

Ok, for a little tutorial on the 6" x 4".
 Start with three pieces of cardstock to make up the base. Front 4" x 6", scored at 6". Inside 4" x 9 1/4", scored at 4 5/8". & the Back 4" x 6".

Starting with the front 4" x 9" piece of cardstock, fold at the 6" score line and use the edge as a guide to draw a line with a pencil.

Using a ruler draw another line 1/2" from the edge, then add a line across half way down (2"). You should end up with something that resembles a "H", this is a guideline for cutting out the framelit.

Place framelit between the two vertical lines. I'm using the 5th circle. You can use any shape you like, just remember the framelit must be no wider than 2 1/2".

Run it through the big shot to cut out the circle.

Place a piece of dsp (3 3/4" x 5 3/4") 1/4" smaller onto the front section  of the card (over the "H"), fold over the scored section to hold in place and flip it over.

Trace around the circle onto the dsp, then cut it out with the big shot. (Sometimes I find it easier to use the framelit itself for tracing, it also help you see it better when cutting it with the big shot).
Tip: If you're braver than I am... you can stick the dsp to the front of the cardstock then run it through the big shot together to save time (my big shot has been in pieces before, so it doesn't like it... that or I'm just a scaredy cat).

Here I've folded some washi tape in half, sticky side on the outside.

Then snipped off the tip on an angle down towards the spine of the fold.

 This creates the ribbon tail.

It's a lot easier to add the washi tape to the dsp before you stick it down, that way you can trim it at the edge or fold it under.

I used the 5th & 6th Circle Framelits together to make a circle frame for the front.

You can make enough of these frames for all the windows if you like, I just didn't bother to for this card.

Tombow or Two Way Glue pens are good for small spaces to be glued.

Attach the frame to the window on the card front.

 Fold the card Inside (4" x 9 1/4" ) in half (on the 4 5/8" scoreline).

Place the card front over the inside, make sure it's all lined up nicely on the right hand side.

Trace the circle framelit onto the card inside.

Now you have your guide for your first circle on the card inside.

Run it through the big shot to cut the circle framelit out.

Repeat the process onto the other side (back) of the card inside, using the first circle as guide for the next one.

Place the framelit over the second circle on the card inside and cut out with the big shot.

Add your choice of glue to whole first side of the card inside, remember it needs to match up with the circle window on the front of the card.

Stick the card front onto the card inside, lining up the edges and the windows.

You should have something that looks like this.

Open the card and stick a piece of white cardstock cut out with the same 5th Circle Framelit in through the window so that it lands on the 3" section of the card front that folds behind.

Make sure you add adhesive right to the edges of the white circle so that it sticks down well and doesn't get caught. (I stamped, embossed & coloured the image & words first.)

Add a line of sticky strip to the back of the card inside, right along the edge.

Stick the card Back (4" x 6") onto the card.

It should look something like this.

Open the card to give it a test run. If the image slides back into place lining up with the window then it's all good, if not you may need to trim a little bit off. Here you can see mine didn't quite go back into line with the window.

The spine of the card is open, so you can flip out the section with the image and trim it off to suit.

This is how much I ended up cutting off until it would fit properly.

Give it another test run. If you can open the card properly and the image slides into the window you can move on.

Next I prepared an image on another piece of whisper white cardstock and cut it out with the 5th circle framelit.
Add some glue and attach it through the window of the card front while card is closed.

You May need lift the card inside to make sure the image is properly secured to the back of the card.

I added some extra embellishments to finish off the card.

This isn't a very good photo, but you can see all the stamping has been embossed with silver powder.

This is how the card looks half way open, you can see the second image about to slide in over the first image.

Fully open.

This card is almost the same except for the specialty dsp from all is calm (white with silver spots).
