Halloween

I'm a little bit late getting these pictures up, but they're from our launch. My projects were Halloween, while Shari's projects were Christmas (which I haven't taken photo's of yet, but plan to).

Pam (Shari's mum) made up the water bottles, aren't they fantastic, all wrapped up like mummies.
I made the broom sticks (inspired from the stampin up catalogue), with a chocolate covered musk stick, there's only so much space inside those skinny cello bags.These were some of the goodies we handed out to out guests who attended.

The witches hat box was one of my make & take projects.

This card was my other Halloween make & take project. I tried to keep it simple yet cram as many elements on it as I could, for a good taste of variety & some new products. 

I gave everyone the choice of colour, red (Cherry Cobbler) or green (Gumball Green), the red was the most popular.
All the elements on this card included; Textured Embossing with the spider web folder, cutting with the Labels Collection Framelits, Heat Embossing with black powder & the bats stamp, stamping with White Frost Shimmer Paint & the spider web stamp, Spritzing with Markers & the new Cherry Cobbler Tulle.

Tea Bags & Tea Tags

I wanted to give my friend a small token of kindness to brighten her day.... So what better way than with some delicious Vanilla Tea in a sweet little box (that's the same shape as the pyramid tea bags), & a matching card with a cute little poem inside.

Rag Bag

My second attempt at making one of these bags, & I gotta say I was pretty happy with the result, considering I'm not much of a sewer. But this is probably one of the easiest types of patchwork to do.

This bag was made from Stampin' up Timeless Portrait Fabric & calico with a bit of wadding too.

I cut all the fabric with the stampin' up Scallop Square Die and the Big Shot.

Scallop Square Bag

I didn't bother with pockets, though I think it would probably have been easier  to do than I first thought.

I used all three designs of the fabric, then cut them & the calico with the scallop square die. I cut the wadding with a rotary cutter (like a little pizza cutter).

I layered each square with calico, wading then the patterned fabric.

I sewed a cross on each square to keep them together & create the quilted effect.
I used Black cotton on the top patterned side of each square...

...& Cream cotton on the calico side (in the bobbin).

All my squares with crosses sew on & ready for assembly.

I thought it best to lay all of my squares out to plan their placement before sewing them together. I tried to avoid having any two patterns beside each other, with three design it should work. I used nine squares for the front and back, and three for the sides and bottom. So that a total of 27 squares to make the whole bag, plus handles. 

All finished... but I forgot to take a photo while making the handles...oops.
I also added a strip of wadding inside the handles, it gives you something to grab a  hold of, instead of just a thin piece of fabric, & it makes it feel stronger too. To attach the handles I just tucked the ends into the layers of the squares before sewing a seem around the top of the bag to finish it.

Birthday party invitation. My kids birthday's are so close (two days apart), we decided to have a joined party for them this year. They wanted the invitations to be colourful, but the part I found tricky was making them suitable for both girls & boys. This was the one they chose to go with.

The kids made their own party bags as part of the activities. Here I am showing them how to make a box -in-a-bag.

While the kids were busy doing zumba, treats had been tucked into their party bags.

This was suppose to be an Angry Birds winter cake, & though it doesn't look much like snow on the cake, there are marshmallow snowmen. The big angry birds are store brought marshmallow pops, but I made the smaller red angry bird and the three green pigs from fondant icing, & chocolate finger biscuits over the pigs & around the sides of the cake.

Melbourne Regionals 2012

I thought I should share my regional samples with everyone. Things at regionals were a little bit different this year, less swapping but lots & lots of sample to see, take photo's of & watch how some of them were made. Over all I think it was terrific, but I didn't have time time do everything, because there was so much to see & do.
