Gift Card Holder

This is a great gift card holder that slides the gift card up as you open it.
Using the Envelope Punch Board you can create open/close mechanism.
All project using products from SALE-A-BRATION 2014
All the basic elements: Open, Closed & embellishment's.

Stamps: See Ya Later. DSP: Sweet Sorbet  (Sale-a-Bration 2014.)

Stamps: See Ya Later. DSP: Sweet Sorbet  (Sale-a-Bration 2014.)

These were the make project for a workshop, one I had ready made (which was also my practice) and the other was the one I demonstrated on the day.

As you open the front flap up, the insert holding the gift card slides up.
the Pool Party string is from the Sweet Sorbet pack (Sale-a-bration) holds the the bottom end closed.

I used Stampin' write Markers to colour the stamp: Certainly Celery,
Crumb Cake, Pool Party & Soft Slate. Cut with Apothecary Accents Framelits.
Stamps: Banner Blast, with Pool Party ink & punched with the Banner Punch.

Stampin' Write Markers: Soft Slate, So Saffron & Crumb Cake.
HAPPY is stamped in Pool Party & cut with the Bitty Banner Framelits.
Stamps: Your Lovely. DSP: Sweet Sorbet. (Sale-A-Bration)
Colours: Crisp Cantaoupe, Sahara Sand & Whisper White.

Open with live Happy stamped inside. (You can tell I've been a little bit rough  with this one, it was the first one I made).

I haven't had a chance to adjust my instruction page yet, so I'll add a link to Dawn's Stamping Thoughts, which is where I got the instruction in the first place. Dawn has a fabulous video which is easy to follow.

"Down by the beach" Diorama Card

I haven't included any proper instruction for this card so I hope my pictures & explanation help you to understand how it works.
Stamps sets: Woodgrain, Wetlands & By the Tide.
Colours: Sahara Sand, Whisper White, Soft Sky, Island Indigo,  Marina Mist,  So Saffron & Jet Black Staz-on

This card is basically two pieces of card stock the same size ( Sahara Sand ) with 1" &  1/2" score lines down both sides of each, one for the front & the other for the back. I used a circle framelit to cut a hole in the front.
Back ground sponging and stamping on whisper white, glued onto the inside of the back piece.
Then I used acetate to add the extra image to finish the scene. First I stamped the duck onto the acetate, then stamped, coloured and cut out another duck ( excluding the legs, because they've already been stamped onto the acetate) and  stuck it over the duck on the acetate with glue dots.
Note: I only stuck the acetate into one side of the card, this allows you to be able fold in the sides to fit into an envelope, or stretch it out for display.

My Friends Wedding

Ok, I'm a little slow at getting things on here (the wedding was last summer : ). But at least I've finally managed to get these pictures up.
As I was a bridesmaid to my very dear friend, (whom I have know since primary school) it was put upon me to deal with the invitations, though she had input to the design and we had a team work effort with another of the bridesmaids to help produce all 60 invitations.
The invitation:
Closed with white satin ribbon. Embellished mini silver brads & rhinestone brad, on Tempting Turquoise Butterflies (Beautiful Wings Embosslits) spritzed with white frost shimmer.
Silver Embossed stamps from Baroque Motifs & Wedding Sweet, on white Vellum, mounted on Tempting Turquoise Card stock, mounted on Brushed Silver card stock, mounted on white card stock.
Side punched with Scallop Trim Border Punch.
Opened one side to reveal Bird Cage poem tucked into the pocket on the left.
Pocket is stamps with Baroque Motifs & embossed with Tempting Turquoise powder.
Silver embossed stamp cut out with Labels Collection Framelit on the right.
Opened on both sides, revealing R.S.V.P. in the pocket on the right.
Main information printed onto white card stock and attached to invitation with a mini silver brad.

Flipping the piece of white card stock up to reveal more information (about organised transport), printed onto Tempting Turquoise card stock.

This is the wedding card I made to give my friend on her big day.
I kept all the colours the same as the invitations to match (White, Vellum & Tempting Turquoise card stock) although I've used Silver Glimmer Paper instead of Brushed Silver here.
Stamps: Baroque Motifs, Perfectly Penned, Papillon Potpourri.
Embossing powders: Silver & Temping Turquoise.

The butterflies have embossed with Tempting Turquoise on white Vellum before being punched out with the Elegant Butterfly &...

the Bitty Butterfly.

I used pastels on the envelope to create a softer look.

Bonbonniere
My friend decided to go with the bag-a-lope as her bonbonniere.
All elements matching invitations of course.

Filling the bonbonnieres: With sugared almond of course.
We used Adorning Accents Edgelits to cut strips of blue & white tissue paper to help fill the bag-a-lope. We also dropped a few heart shaped chocolates wrapped in silver & blue foil with their names on them into the bag-a-lope.
Again this project had a team work effort to get it done.

Table centre pieces.
You always hope people appreciate the effort that goes into these projects when there are so many to make.
Packing the majority of the table dressings.
(I never got any decent pictures of the bridal table decorations).

The Brides flowers, perfume & shoes
The Brides dress.

After sand ceremony.

The cake.

The Hunger Games - Catching Fire - Card & Cake

It was my good friend Shari's birthday very recently, and we were going to see The Huger Games- "Catching Fire", movie for her birthday, which is what inspired me to make her card and cake to match the theme ( even though circumstances have prevented us from seeing the movie, twice... which I still haven't seen yet!).
I used the humming bird from elements of style, embossed with gold on black card stock. For the ring I just cover enough black card stock with gold embossing to punch 1 1/4" circle + 1 3/4" circle.
The "Happy Birthday" is from Sassy Salutations, also embossed in gold.

I cut a sheet of white A4 copy paper in half and trimmed to fit inside the card , to resemble a book. I also pierced several hole in the centre and sewed some white cotton through it, again going for the book look, and having a few pages allows plenty of room for everyone to sign the card too.

I'm trying to show you a good shot of the flames.  this pictures showing how shiny they are as the crystal effects reflects the light.

To make the flames I used an Aqua Painter to paint a basic flame shape with gold shimmer powder on to a silicone mat.
Then I added a blob of Crystal Effects in a very basic crescent shape. Then I dipped a tooth pick into some Crystal Effects that I had added some Pumpkin Pie ink refill (to make it orange) and dragged the crescent blob of Crystal Effects into the shape of a flame, the more I dipped the tooth pick into the orange Crystal Effects, the deeper the colour of the flames become. I left them over night to dry, then peeled them of the silicone mat and arranged them on the card before sticking down with a two way glue pen.

This is my mocking jay made of fondant icing that I coloured yellow and a little bit of orange.

This is with one coat of edible Antique Gold paint...

Two coats...

& Three coats.

I made a chocolate mud cake and covered it with dark chocolate ganache. I've never made ganache before and think next time I would prepare it earlier to allow it to set better.

I was really starting to run out of time at this point, but had managed to make flames for the cake too. I just cut the flame shapes out of fondant icing that I had added yellow & orange colour to, stuck them together, then painted a little bit of maple syrup on the top then sprinkled with red sugar.

Slapped the mocking jay on top and it was done (you can even see where my fingers hit the ganache  as I tried to carefully place the mocking jay into the centre of the cake).

The Hunger Games Cake,  just in time for catching fire.

The gold looks different in different light.
