Double layering with Everything Eleanor & No Black Outline Technique

Just Playing around with a card after being inspired by a catalogue. (Yes it was a mothers day catalogue from the chemist, it just takes me a while to post things.)

Stamps sets: Everything Eleanor & Endless Birthday Wishes
Card stock: Thick White & Brushed Silver
Ink: Versa Mark, Sahara Sand, Daffodil Delight, Wisteria Wonder, Elegant Eggplant, Perfect Plum, Garden Green & Old Olive
Extras: Silver Embossing Powder & Gold Wink of Stella

I used temporary adhesive to hold the smaller piece of white card stock in place, then stamped and embossed the words - somewhere in the middle. Next I stamped the flowers in Sahara Sand and masked some to stamp more over lapping flowers and added stems.

Using an Aqua Painter I water coloured the flowers with the ink colours in the picture.

This is how it look after just watercolouring, which I didn't mind... but I always get carried away and add more.

I used the fine tip end of the markers to outline the flowers.

...added a bit of Perfect Plum.

Gold Wink of Stella to deepen the stamens.

Take it apart and add some real adhesive.

So there's the card next to the inspiration.

See... "Mothers Day Special" in a chemist catalogue.
Well, inspiration comes from everywhere.

Sale-A-Bration & Occasions 2016

Too bad I don't post projects more often, I'm getting a little behind.
These were made earlier this year with new occasions stamp sets and Sale-A-Bration stamp sets too, plus a little wink of Stella.

Stamps: Picture Perfect, Everything Eleanor, Kinda Eclectic & Perfect Pairings
Cardstock: Crumb Cake, Blushing Bride & Very Vanilla
Ink: Versa Mark, Pear Pizzazz, Old Olive, Always Artichoke, Blushing Bride, Calypso Coral & Watermelon Wonder
Extras: Gold Embossing Powder, Gold Marker, Gold Wink of Stella & Gold Metallic Baker's Twine

Gold is always hard to photograph...you got to try all angles. : /

First I stamped the swirl from Everything Eleanor & the leaf from Kinda Eclectic in Versa Mark, but then decided it didn't show up enough (even for background).

...so I went over the swirls with the Gold Wink of Stella.
It doesn't look that great here, but it made the finished card look better.

Stamps: What I Love
Cardstock: Soft Sky, Brushed Silver & Very Vanilla
Ink: Blushing Bride, Soft Sky, Perfect Plum & Wild Wasabi
Extras:  Chevron Embossing Folder, Silver Embossing Powder & Silver Metallic Thread

You may be able to see if you look really closely, that the Chevron embossing folder has been pressed onto the Vanilla card stock with Soft Sky ink.
The Coloured spots you can see in the top corner were just added with an Aqua painter & watered down ink ( it helps if the card stock is slightly damp first).

Stamps: Perfect Pairings & What I Love
Cardstock: Soft Sky, Brushed Silver & Whisper White
Ink: Blushing Bride, Soft Sky, Calypso Coral, Tangerine Tango & Wild Wasabi
Extras:  Modern Masaic Embossing Folder, Silver Embossing Powder, Silver Metallic Thread & Rhinestone Jewels

It's hard to tell from the picture, but the Mosaic folder has been pressed onto the white card stock with a little soft sky ink.
Stamps: Enjoy the Little Things
Cardstock: Timeless Elegance dsp, Sahara Sand, Basic Black & Very Vanilla
Ink: Pear Pizzazz, Cherry Cobbler, Sahara Sand & Memento Black
Extras: Pearl Jewels, Labels Collection Framelits

I used the markers to colour the rose on the dsp (designer series paper) and the fine tip of the Sahara Sand marker to add the line & dotted detail on the label.

No-black-outline Colouring - Saffron Sky Bird - Gold Coast Convention swaps 2015

Since Blendabilities aren't available, I thought I should try another colouring technique.
No-black-outline Colouring... at least that's what I'm calling it anyway.
So here's a few step-by-step photos & some of my favourite stamps.
Saffron Sky Bird
Stamp Sets: Moon Lake, Hardwood & Everything Eleanor.
Card stock: Soft Sky, So Saffron & Whisper White.
Ink: So Saffron, Soft Sky, Pool Party, Marina Mist, Sahara Sand, Old Olive, Pear Pizzazz & White Chalk Pen.
Tools: 2 ½” Circle Punch & Apothecary Accents Framelits.
Extras: Blender Pen, White Jute Ribbon & White Vellum.
Techniques: Sponging, No-black-outline colouring.

The background here is a bit like the "Triple Layer Stamping", except of course without the triple layers.
I've just used the Pool Party Marker to slightly darken the round ends of the flourish that I stamped with Soft Sky.
Here is the full background with a piece of So Saffron card stock added between the Whisper White & the Soft Sky.

The Sahara Sand ink is a good colour base to see the out of the image without interfering too much with the colours you might want to add.

I used the Blender Pen & ink (from the lids of the ink pads) to colour the image.

Here you can see the difference of adding the coloured outlines.
The image on the left has no added outline, where as I have added coloured outlines to the image on the right.

Using the coordinating colours, I outlined the image with the fine tip (thin end) of the markers. This adds some depth & strengthens the colours, making it more of a coloured outline image.

It wasn't until I had made a few feathers on my swaps (using White Jute Ribbon) that I realised they weren't working very well (sorry to anyone who received those ones). So then I thought there's got to be a better way & this is what I came up with. Vellum... why didn't I think of it in the first place, it worked a treat.

Techniques & Sweet Stuff

Here some cards focusing on techniques such as Stencil spraying, Sponging ,folder printing & Blendabilities (Alcohol Markers). Products used in these projects include, Stamps; Papillon Potpourri, Hello There, Kinda Eclectic, Everything Eleanor & Petite Petals. Punches: Elegant Butterfly, Bitty Butterfly, Label Bracket  & Petite Petals. Framelits: Hexagon Hive, Chalk Talk and Apothecary Accents.

Colours: Calypso Coral, Hello Honey, Daffodil Delight, Mossy Meadow Tuxedo Black & Whisper White.

Colours:  Hello Honey, Daffodil Delight, Mossy Meadow Tuxedo Black & Very Vanilla.

Vanilla Seam binding ribbon & pearls go really nicely with Very Vanilla card stock.

Colours: Hello Honey, Daffodil Delight, Coastal Cabana, Soft Sky, Pistachio Pudding, Wild Wasabi, Tuxedo Black & Whisper White.

I cut a stencil out of card stock using the Hexagon Hive Framelit. Adding a little bit of snail adhesive  then tapping off the excess stickiness with your finger tip helps to hold the stencil in place, without sticking to your work too much.

I spayed with a few of squirts of Daffodil Delight & few of Pool Party.
(In this particular photo the stencil has all the colour -as I had used it several times before - and my card stock is Whisper White). I just used alcohol (Isocol - rubbing alcohol) several drops of ink refill until I was happy with the colour.

I used the swirl from Everything Eleanor & stamped it in Soft Sky ink.

Sponged the edges with Hello Honey ink.

Cut out a tag from Chalk Talk framelits in Daffodill Delight card stock. Add a ;layer of Hello Honey  ink to the Honeycomb embossing folder, close the folder with the tag inside & press down firmly to transfer the ink. (It's like stamping with an embossing folder). Then sponge the edges with more Hello Honey ink.

Stamp the words ( So Sweet of you ) from Hello There, in Hello Honey ink on Hello Honey card stock.Punch out with Label Bracket Punch, sponge the edges with more Hello Honey ink.

Stamp the flower from Petite Petals in Hello Honey ink on Whisper White card stock.Add some daffodil Delight ink to the center of the flower using a sponge dauber. Punch out with Petite Petals Punch.

Stamp the fuller flower from Petite Petals in Wild  Wasabi ink on Pistachio Pudding card stock.. Punch out with Petite Petals Punch, then cut with scissor to create leaves.

To make the butterfly (from Papillon Potpourri)  stamp in Memento  Tuxedo Black ink onto Whisper White card stock.

Allow black ink 20-30 seconds drying time, colour once over with the brush tip in the lightest shade of Coastal Cabana Blendabilities Markers.

Next I used the bullet end of the dark Coastal Cabana to trace along the top edge of the butterfly wings.

Again with the darkest shade using little stokes, I went over the first dark line and extended it

Next with the medium shade of Coastal Cabana, go over  all the dark areas and continue to extend it further,  and keep using the same stoke style.

One more time go over and extend the dark area, this time using the Lightest shade. (This step may not be necessary with the other coloured Blendabilities, but for some reason the Coastal Cabana needs more work to blend).

Finally give a last coat of the light shade all over using the brush tip. This step makes all the difference when blending, as you can tell in this picture I have only coloured in the left wing.

Punch  out using the Elegant Butterfly punch.
All the pieces to make the tag  + adhesives & dimensionals.

All pieces put together creating a card full of techniques and sweet stuff.
