Birthday Blooms

Birthday Blooms is such a lovely Stamp set, with pretty flowers that can be coloured in or left as an outline and some basic sentiments (which I prefer) in a really nice font.

So if you love colouring (or not...) this is a great stamp set.

Embossing the outline not only looks good, it creates a little barrier which help to keep within the lines. Here I've use Watermelon Wonder & Crushed Curry to create a two toned flower.

For a softer - lighter colour you can dilute the ink by adding a little more water before applying it.

I like to do this on only a portion of the ink pad lid, that way I've still got some full strength ink to use if I need it.

Starting on the outside edges, work your way into the petal letting the colour fade out before filling in the whole petal.

 I find working in a small circular motion can use up the colour quicker if you don't want the entire section coloured.

 Tip: If you keep the brush tip moving on the card (even if it's not fast), you'll be less likely to end up with a streaky or patchy finish.

You can always darken the tips by picking up the undiluted ink and applying over the top.

Deeper colour on the tip of the petal.

The crushed Curry may only need to be applied once if diluted to a medium intensity.

Start applying the crushed curry from the inside of the petal and work your way out. The colour should fade out as they overlap.

Remember; I have just used whisper white card stock here (not watercolour paper), so it can only handle so much water & ink. If its over worked it may start to pill a bit.
