Dutch Shutter Fold Card - with Flowering Fields & No Bones About it.

I had seen this style of card on Splitcoaststampers, thought it looked great and wanted to try it out. The card I seen was so cute - it had Snoopy and the red baron on it... but there were no instructions, only that the creator of the card had seen it in a Dutch Hobby Magazine. I tried really hard to find it again to set up a link... but I couldn't find it... Sorry : (
I'll be sure to up date with a link if I do come across it though.

Update: I found the card that inspired these cards (only took ages :D ).
Here is the link to niki1's cute version on splitcoast.

So, I've given it a go anyway and decided it wasn't to hard to figure out.
Stamp Set: Flowering Fields
Cardstock: Ivory Naturals
Ink: Sahara Sand, Always Artichoke, Old Olive, Pear Pizzazz, Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie, Real Red, Wisteria Wonder & Blushing Bride
Technique: No black outline
Extras: Blender Pen & White Gel Pen

This is how the card looks when folded flat to fit in the envelope.

Stamp Set: No Bones About It
Cardstock: Crumb Cake, Early Espresso, Whisper White & Vallum
Ink: Garden Green, Old Olive, Pear Pizzazz, Cucumber Crush, Delightful Dijon, Early Espresso & White Craft
Technques: Distressing
Extras: Linen Thread

This is the back of the card, I just decided to decorate it too because the stamp set has so many images to play with I thought why not use up all the room.

This how the card looks when fully opened, showing both front and back.

As you can see the card folds nicely flat to fit into an envelope.

This is a fun card to make and could be decorated in so many ways...
`
Sorry about the quality, I didn't scan the instructions like I normally would, I've just taken a photo instead.

Picture Perfect

I've played around with the humming bird and using lots of colours, but this is the only card I've put together so far. It was not my intention to make the whole card so colourful. I was going to just add colourful birds to a white-gray-black background. ...but things don't always turn out as planned, & I'm happy with how the card finished up anyway.

Stamps sets: Picture Perfect & Balloon Celebration
Card stock: Wisteria Wonder, Pool Party & Whisper White
Ink: Wisteria Wonder, Soft Sky, Pool Party, Mint Macaron, Cucumber Crush, Wild Wasabi, Pink Pirouette, Rose Red, Tangerine Tango, Temping Turquoise, Pacific Point, Rich Razzleberry & Memento Black
Tools: Brayer & Scissors

The background is brayered with Wisteria Wonder & Soft Sky.
The leaves are stamped onto the card, but the birds and flowers have been cut out and stuck on -yes that was lots of cutting! (one bird is on dimentionals).
For the birds, I inked up the beak with Tangerine Tango then the rest of the stamp with black ink avoiding the beak. For the rest of the bird layers I just inked the stamp up with a lighter colour then added more colours to sections of the stamp with either sponges or daubers.

Double layering with Everything Eleanor & No Black Outline Technique

Just Playing around with a card after being inspired by a catalogue. (Yes it was a mothers day catalogue from the chemist, it just takes me a while to post things.)

Stamps sets: Everything Eleanor & Endless Birthday Wishes
Card stock: Thick White & Brushed Silver
Ink: Versa Mark, Sahara Sand, Daffodil Delight, Wisteria Wonder, Elegant Eggplant, Perfect Plum, Garden Green & Old Olive
Extras: Silver Embossing Powder & Gold Wink of Stella

I used temporary adhesive to hold the smaller piece of white card stock in place, then stamped and embossed the words - somewhere in the middle. Next I stamped the flowers in Sahara Sand and masked some to stamp more over lapping flowers and added stems.

Using an Aqua Painter I water coloured the flowers with the ink colours in the picture.

This is how it look after just watercolouring, which I didn't mind... but I always get carried away and add more.

I used the fine tip end of the markers to outline the flowers.

...added a bit of Perfect Plum.

Gold Wink of Stella to deepen the stamens.

Take it apart and add some real adhesive.

So there's the card next to the inspiration.

See... "Mothers Day Special" in a chemist catalogue.
Well, inspiration comes from everywhere.
